Timex Men's Expedition Adventure Tech Digital Compass Watch #T42761

Customer Buzz
I have owned several Timex watches over the years with the last 2 being Expeditions. When I began researching for another watch with a compass I wanted one with an actually working compass & not just a digital one that you had to press a button everytime you wanted a reading. I checked on several different makes & they ranged in price from $99 to over $250. I found this Timex with a floating digital compass and for only $45. It also has the rotating bezel, another feature I wanted. Having owned Timex watches before with the only problems I ever had was the watchbands wearing out & the battery finally running down, I new it would be a great product. You can't beat a Timex for quality and affordability. This is my first purchase on Amazon and I was very pleased with how it went.

it has many useful functions especially the compass. I need it to take part in company's cup challenge. But the I thinkd the leather wrist belt is not suitable for a ourdoor watch.

The best compass watch I've seen or used. It keeps excellent time and is very easy to read and use. I also like the coloring. The watch band, however, lasted about two weeks of continuous use. I ordered a "rubber" replacement and it was better than the original. Stylish and durable. If you think you need a compass on a regular basis I would strongly recommend this model.

I bought this watch mostly because of its many excellent non-compass features, but since I spend a lot of time participating in outdoor activities, I knew the compass would come in handy too. (And it has on several occasions).

Here are all of its modes:
* Watch
* Compass (includes declination adjustment setting)
* Chronograph with lap support
* Timer (with option to auto-repeat)
* Hydration alarm (goes off at repeatedly at the interval you specify to remind you to drink water while exercising or whatnot)
* Occasion alarm (reminds you of one-time and reoccurring dates and what's special about it. It's pre-configured with things like birthdays, bills, events, and many other things like that)
* Not just one or 2, but 3 separate regular alarms. This was a big deal for me, and I use all 3 regularly.
* Support for 3 time zones.

I find the button layout to be very straightforward, easy to remember, and consistent. I can't think of any features they could add to make this a better watch. It also feels comfortable, well-made, and sturdy, and the bezel does an excellent job of protecting the lens from scratches.

However I do have a couple minor complaints:

* The bezel rotates, and I'm not sure how that could be useful. This only bothers me because now and then I bump the watch into something and find the bezel to be rotated. For whatever reason, I like the N to always be right at the top so I find myself straightening it every couple days.

* As far as I know, you can't replace the band with a different style because of the bubble level at the top. From reading other users' reviews it looks like you can get inexpensive replacements from Timex.

Like I said, they're pretty minor complaints. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this watch and I would say it's well worth the money, even though I paid significantly more than Amazon is charging for it. This watch is easily the most useful watch I've ever had, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I've owned and used this watch daily for about 10 months. Except for the band I am quite pleased with the watch. I wanted both three time zones, at least one alarm and a compass. I travel to Asia at least annually and am 1. directionally challenged (have been lost in some really interesting places) 2. needed a reliable alarm to wake up and catch early flights (I useually set two) and 3. though I wanted three time zones I've found in practice that I do fine with two. One I leave on EST and the other I set once on the plane for the new distention. I found this watch to do all it says it does and does it well. The buttons are somewhat intuitive and I've learned to do all the basics quickly.

As has been reported in other reviews the band that comes with it is both of poor quality and I thought it looks cheap as well. My band came apart after 5-6 months. Fortunately Timex, at the numbers given in another review here, sent me a nice plastic band for $8 bucks or so and I think it will function fine.
