I was looking for a watch that would be suitable for everyday use, with an easy to unclasp watchband. I like arabic numerals, day and date, and especially like Indiglo lighting, for checking the time at night or in a movie theatre. This watch has all of those features, and a clean, sharp look. The only minor drawback is that the color of the face of the watch is silver, and that takes some getting used to when looking at it in the daylight. Other than that, it's great.
This was purchased as a gift, and the recipient loves it. Only problem... he hasn't figured out how to shorten the band yet.

I wear this watch daily, and I'm very much satisfied by it, starting with the leather which is of good quality and seems pretty durable! comfortable to wear and goes along with casual as well as formal wear--
This would be a good cheap watch, except that my mine loses time, maybe about an hour suddenly.
This is the third time. Now I know the first two times weren't flukes or anything.
Sadly, I can no longer return it. So it's pretty useless. What, am I supposed to do...have it repaired?
How hard is it to build a decent $30 watch anyways? It's less than two months old!
Wanted a simple watch for travel. Single crown adjustment makes switching time zones a snap (one watch I have takes 3 buttons and a few minutes to reset the time). Looks good and the metal case is nicely brushed, but nothing you'd get mugged over if lost in a seedy part of town. Lost track of the day of the week on some wilderness vacations, so the day display was important. The numerals are easy to read in a glance. Also the backlight was a must for middle of the night time-checks in a tent. The band is nice-enough, but I worried how it would resist sunscreen and bug repellant, so I switched it with a cool lugged rubber dive strap. Perfect!
This Timex watch is a good watch that feels comfortable and looks nice. It has easy to remove links and the features for the price is good. One thing, the ratcheted outer bezel seems slightly loose on some of these, but they appear to come from the factory that way. Overall a nice watch that I wear almost every day. Also has the brushed stainless steel case. I would recommend this watch to anybody that wants a sturdy clean looking watch. My wife really likes the looks of it also.
When I bought this watch I didn't know what to expect. I thought it might be very light weight and have a cheap feel to it. After taking it out of the box I immediately realized what another reviewer was talking about having to wind all the way through the days to get to the correct "day of the week." Let's say your watch comes with it set at Thu. and it is actually Tues., you have to pull out the bezel, and rotate the hour hand again, and again, and again until you get to Tues. Which if you've already noticed is 96hrs apart from one another. It took only five minutes but I wished there was another way of setting it. Setting the date was a snap with the bi-directional bezel. If pushed in, the light comes on and it lights up the entire face. The day and date isn't illuminated but the entire face is, making time reading easy and enjoyable. The time ring is sound and sturdy and rotates counterclock wise and can be used, I noticed, as a compass. In order to use it as a compass, you have to point the hour hand directly towars the sun and position the South label (on the time ring, 30 is the South label) on the ring between the hour hand and 12. How this works in real time remains to be seen but I'm waiting with excitement. The face of this gorgeous watch is quite a bit larger than a quarter making it great for small wrist and large wrist people.
Now the reason this didn't recieve five stars is b/c my order wasn't fulfilled correctly. This model Timex is T42501, which is listed on Timex.com as having a black strap. But unfortunately my T42501 came with a brown strap!!! How, I absolutely don't know but the box and watch is labeled as a T42501. Also, the instructions seem to be from a different Timex watch. So I'm curious if upon your purchase with Amazon you will have the same result. FYI: the brown strap that came with this watch feels great and is also well made, just brown. On the plus side, Target carries an ok selection of black Timex watch bands. The platinum collection black strap is perfect for this watch and is $10.99. The watch uses a 20mm strap.
In all, this watch is absolutely a great watch. It's well built, feels great on your wrist and is surprisingly large. People will absolutely mistake this for a much expensive watch!
FYI: Target only carries this same exact watch but with a black dial and black strap for $34.99. Last checked 7/29/08.
I bought this watch as my previous one was too old and fading.
Its nothing too fancy. Serves the purpose of keeping track of time.
Rugged yet sleek. Especially the steel look gives is an edge above other watches in the same price range.
Love my watch.
Pro: full metal, nice appearance, very accurate.
Con: The week display won't change at 12:00 PM, but at about 3:00 AM.
