Time(x) has sure improved these. I had a couple about ten years ago when they came out (no vibrating alarm) and this is much more solid and accurate. I don't know what the case is made of (the back is stainless), but it's much more substantial than the original die cast (pot metal) ones, and the parts are heavier and made to closer tolerances. The super-quick-setting under-an-hour alarm is still brilliant, and the 12-hour alarm is quick and accurate as well. The hands, even the second hand, are fluorescent even though the watch has Indiglo so bright you can use it as a flashlight in certain situations! When the alarm's not set I use the under-an-hour red alarm indicator as a day indicator, 12 o'clock for Sunday, 1 o'clock for Monday, etc. Also, you can set it to the minute to note elapsed time or set the 12-hour alarm to the present time for longer elapsed time (parking). A snug strap adjustment is better for feeling the alarm. (This watch is vibrate only; Timex makes at least one with the same features but with an audible-only alarm). When I got this watch I set it repeatedly for a few minutes ahead to get used to it. It wakes me up just fine, and rather pleasantly, and I have yet to accidentally turn off the alarm set. Pay five to seven times as much for a Bulova and (some models) will allow choosing between audible and vibrate alarms, but will only be accurate within 12 minutes (one minute for an hour-only alarm hand). Pay five to seven times as much for a Citizen Calibre 8700 with a hard-to read day indicator and an excruciatingly slow motor-driven 24 hour alarm set (or check!). Two time zones? I'll reset the Timex if I travel. Perpetual date? The Timex has forward and backward quick-set date. Eco-drive? So I'll buy a battery every few years. And the Citizen weighs MORE and doesn't vibrate. Oh--and do you really need a chronometer (stopwatch) as some complicated alarm watches (with three small dials on the face) have? If your kid's on the swim team surely you already have a $15 digital split timer. For analog people who want a super quick-setting (vibrating) alarm, especially an under-an-hour one for naps or not to forget you're draining excess water from your pool or you're supposed to call your mother-in-law (ouch), this is a solid, inexpensive, brilliant watch full of useful features.
There are some awful ugly vibration alarm watches out there, but this Timex is the best looking understated one that I have found - more attractive than the photo would suggest. The vibration alarm doesn't wake my wife but more than sufficient to wake me. Very easy to set and adjust. My only misgivings is that it is a little too easy to inadvertently turn off the alarm. By wearing the watch on my right wrist I have stopped accidentally turning it off - would be great if the button was a little harder to turn off by accident. The electro-luminescent watch face is a breeze to read in the dark. Very pleased with the watch all round and very good value. Most surprising of all is how accurate a timepiece it is - more accurate than any of my analogue watches including a Tudor Rolex Submariner - only lost about 9 seconds in about a month. An excellent buy!
VERY LITTLE WRITE AND SPEAK INGLES, IN LITTLE WORD EXCELENT THE PROCESS OF TRANSACTION AND SERVICE VERY GOOD THANK. THE CONGRATULATION.
When I first rec'vd the watch, held it in my hand and set the alarm I was disappointed at the level of vibration however; when I am wearing it the alarm DOES catch your attention (no one hears it). I don't know if it would wake me up, I don't sleep with a watch on. I'm very pleased with the alarm and the easy of setting it!
I'll keep this short because I really only want to comment on 2 things. Overall, this is a great watch if you like the feeling of a watch being on your wrist. It is a heavier watch that is thicker than most because of the vibrating function. If you like a lighter watch, this is for sure not the watch for you...but if you like the feeling of a watch on your wrist you will probably like it.
Secondly, considering the size of the watch it has pretty good vibration. There are so many reviews stating it has poor vibration...come on, it is a watch!! It is not meant to be a tableside vibrating alarm clock but rather a way of letting you know your alarm is going off WHEN IT'S ON YOUR WRIST without everybody else knowing. Personally, I think it does a great job of doing exactly that. I gave this 4 stars rather than 5 only because the band is reallllllly stiff and the picture gives the impression it is a darker brown (I received one with a jet black band).
Its a bit chunky and the alarm is limited to every hour or every 12 hours but it is easy to set once you get the hang of it and all round good value for money.
Developed a leak in the watch face after 6months of regular use (occasional swimming, never worn in the shower). Even at $40 it's not worth it.
great watch,I wake up not knowing what it was, sometimes you wake up a few seconds before it vibrates,if your arm is on something, you really feel it.
If you want to buy me a gift for christmas, don't get me a wristwatch. Not because I don't like wristwatches, I love them. I'm just extremely picky about the right kind of watch. When it comes to watches, I'm a tough customer. Why? A good watch is something that's ALWAYS on your person! A good watch should last 3-5 years on average. Additionally, I want a wrist watch that has a vibrating alarm, chronometer, compass and ideally a temperature gauge as well ALL in analog! That said, this watch is a decent product. I only give it three stars because it lacks the other features I crave for a watch, but for it's vibrating features it's decent. The alarm could be a bit stronger, but adding the kinesthetic alarm feature to a wristwatch is pretty cool. The timex brand is solid as well.
The watch is handsome enough but it is worthless as an alarm. The vibration is so miniscule that it can never awaken a normal human being. It doesn't even draw attention to itself when I am awake and anticipating the vibration.
Don't buy this, OK? If you want to do something impulsive just write a check to me.
