Excellent watch. I've owned expensive watches (Cartier), mid-priced ones (Seiko, Casio), and Timex (Easy set alarm Expeditions which I've been wearing for about ten years, ironman for training) and this is right in the sweet spot.
Build quality is Swiss-like. In fact you could easily find something like this in Geneva for 5-10x the price.
Features: Perpetual calender is seriously cool. Although I've kept to the alarm watches for years, changing the calender month to month is a hassle. On balance, having an analog face on a perpetual calender is a truly nice feature. The black face with white Arial numerals is a bit conservative, but this is offset by the watch's slightly larger size. I have a pretty average/narrow wrist and its large the way a modern watch should be, without being bulky. The backlighting feature is vintage timex. The watch came set to EST.
Overall impression: Timex has come of age. They make this 90.00 wristpiece look and feel like the real deal. Are you picky about what you wear on your wrist but can't afford/don't want a watch that costs hundreds of dollars? Buy this model.
No frills, very basic; wysiwyg. This is a great watch and anyone into basic, clean-lines will enjoy this time-piece.
Saw this item in Details magazine and thought it was just what I wanted: a classic watch that I could wear dressy or casual, but inexpensive enough to not worry about scratching or losing.
What I couldn't see from the photo, however, was how THICK the case is. I didn't notice it right there in the product description (12 mm), but when I put it on my wrist, the fact that it's almost 1/2" thick is readily apparent.
On the wrist, it wasn't the sleek style I was looking for. Needless to say, I returned the item right away.
I bought this watch several weeks ago and have been very pleased with it, for the most part. As one of the other reviewers pointed out, the case is pretty thick but not unmanageable. Also, the second hand ticks and does not sweep as one of the earlier reviews states. All in all, I think this watch is a good value, especially considering Timex claims it will replace the 8-year battery for free.
Little on the big side. Too big to be considered a classic, in my opinion. More trendy than classic.
Also, it looks a bit cheap. My $25 timex expedition is better made, I think.
